A jump start penalty and a DNF keep the team away from points

The Feature Race concluded the seventh round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship season, at the scenic Spielberg track, but the race brought no points to Trident Motorsport. A tough qualifying session, with Richard Verschoor and Roman Staněk setting the 17th and 22nd fastest laps respectively, did not leave, in normal racing conditions, too many hopes of a points zone finish. Verschoor was off to a good start with the Option tyres, managing to climb up to P11 after just five laps. Meanwhile, Staněk also had a good start, recovering up to P15 place as he managed to avoid a car that stalled in front of him.
However, race control charged the 20-year-old Czech for a track limits violation and penalized him ten seconds, with the penalty to be served during the pit stop. Staněk was also slowed down by an underfloor issue, which kept him away from the points.
A physical problem, on the other hand, forced Richard Verschoor to stop for checks at the medical center. The Dutchman now aims to recover quickly from a suspected food poisoning. The series' calendar offers no breaks and the FIA Formula 2 Championship will be back next weekend at Silverstone.
Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager, Feature Race Quote:“It wasn't an easy day. Our drivers did not shine in qualifying and were forced to go for a comeback race. Both got away well with the Option tyres and had a good first part of the race. Staněk, however, incurred a ten-second penalty for a jump-start and had issues with his car's underfloor. On the other hand, Verschoor was forced to stop due to physical reasons. As we wrap up an event where we didn't score any points, we need to regroup and show up determined and in good shape at Silverstone next weekend."
