FIA F2 Championship, Jeddah, Feature Race Report

Lining up for the final time at Jeddah today, Trident Motorsport drivers Marino Sato and Bent Viscaal could not make their way to the points due to the reduced length of the Feature Race, which was interrupted after only seven laps.
The Trident Motorsport drivers had no chances to score points in the shortened Feature Race that wrapped up round 7 of the 2021 FIA Formula 2 Championship at the Jeddah street circuit.
The Feature Race started more than half an hour late and was marred by incidents, awarding half the score. The initial delay was meant to allow the marshals to make track repairs. Then when the lights went out, a car stalled on the grid and was violently hit by one of the incoming ones.
After more than 30 minutes, the stewards reduced the distance to only twenty minutes, still with a mandatory tyre change. Another crash on lap 7 forced led Race Control to stop the running for good, with the ranking frozen at the end of the fifth lap. Viscaal was running in P12, while Sato was P18.
The only positive on a day that provided little opportunities, is that both cars came back undamaged and will now head to Abu Dhabi for the last round of 2021. Trident Motorsport signs off from the Jeddah weekend with an excellent second place by Viscaal in Sprint Race 2. The team is aware of the potential of its cars ahead of the final event of the championship.
Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager:
Today's race was too short to take something out of it. Unfortunately, our drivers didn't even have the chance to set up their pace as the race lasted for only five laps. We are leaving Jeddah satisfied for the second place that Viscaal captured yesterday in race 2. We are also aware that our cars are highly competitive, and we look forward to improving our championship position in the Yas Marina finale.
