Hungaroring, a key round in the leading battle

Hungaroring, a key round in the leading battle

After the unstable weather of Silverstone, the FIA Formula 3 Championship will line up at the twisty Hungaroring circuit, located in the hills around Budapest. High temperatures are expected during the weekend, and that will impact car performance as well as tyre degradation on race weekend.

A perfect compromise in terms of set-up and balance will be needed to keep up with increasingly fierce competition. Managing every detail to perfection will be key, given that minimal gaps are expected and there is no way to catch a breath for drivers. The Hungarian track is 4.381-km long and has a series of medium-slow corners, connected by short straights. It is important not to lose the right rhythm, and every small mistake carries over into the following corners.

At Silverstone, the weather conditions made the difference and rewarded those who had less to lose and dared more. From this point of view, a relatively more straightforward weekend is expected in Budapest, less influenced by external conditions. On Hungarian soil, Leonardo Fornaroli has the goal to recover at the front of the championship after dropping to P4 in the British event.

Sami Meguetounif and Santiago Ramos will aim to improve their ranking and continue their growing trajectory. Although there were some mistakes and discontinuities, the Marseille native was able to win in Imola, where his Mexican teammate took pole position. Both have shown good potential, now maximum dedication and focus will be needed to reap the rewards.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager: “A very challenging weekend awaits us in Hungary, on a short track that many drivers compare to a maxi go-kart track. It consists of narrow and slow sections, connected by short straights. It is very selective from a technical point of view. We expect minimal gaps and every little detail will make the difference. Not many places require you to be perfect like Budapest. High temperatures could also play an important role in performance and degradation. I expect our drivers and technical staff to perform to their maximum and have a competitive weekend, bringing us closer to the top in both rankings."

The FIA Formula 3 Championship will start on Friday at 9.55 with a 45-minute free practice session. Qualifying is scheduled on the same day at 15:05. The Sprint Race will be on Saturday at 9:50. The Feature Race, which will conclude the weekend, will start on Sunday at 8:25. The activity on the track will be fully broadcast live on the Sky Sports network.
