Silverstone, a lead to recapture

The FIA Formula 3 Championship is set for the completion of a tough summer tripleheader that left teams and drivers no time to spare, as the season features five races in six weekends before the August break.

After lining up at Spielberg, FIA F3 is going back on track in the British countryside of Northamptonshire. The seventh round of the season will be at Silverstone, after Luke Browning delivered a key break in the previous event, winning the Feature Race. The British racer made the most out of a tough weekend for some of his contenders to gain an advantage in the Driver Championship, while Trident's Leonardo Fornaroli lost P1 after collecting only two points compared to Browning’s 27.

At Red Bull Ring, a track limits violation cost the Italian his best lap times in Qualifying, and he was forced to be content with P24 on the grid. After that, Fornaroli delivered two outstanding comeback runs and secured P9 in the Feature Race, with plenty of overtaking action. He is now highly motivated for Silverstone, where he achieved his maiden pole last year and came close to victory.

Sami Meguetounif did not have a positive result on Austrian soil, as he was tenth in the Sprint Race. An off cost him several spots and he was also hit by a track limits penalty. Santiago Ramos scored no points as well. An off forced him to stop in the pit lane to clean the sidepots and wings in the early stages of the Sprint Race, before finishing the Feature Race in P13. Trident Motorsport also lost second place in the team championship in Austria, at the end of a weekend where the results did not match the potential displayed.
