Staněk, Verschoor outside the points zone in Northamptonshire

Today’s Feature Race signed off the eighth round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship today at Silverstone but Trident Motorsport could not secure points at the Northamptonshire venue. Qualifying, which saw Richard Verschoor and Roman Staněk claim P13 and P22 respectively, called for a recovery drive for the team’s drivers, After making a clean start, the Dutchman managed to fight back to P7 in the opening stages, while his Czech teammate was up to P11.

Both cars showed a positive pace at times during the Feature Race. However, Staněk reported rear stability issues due to a lack of grip. Verschoor, on the other hand, suffered from clutch issues, which prevented him from going beyond P13 at the end of the race. Staněk, who had claimed P8 in the Sprint Race, finished in P18 despite setting the third-fastest lap of the race. The series will now go for a one-week break before lining up at the up-and-down Hungaroring venue on the penultimate weekend of July.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager, Feature Race Quote:“We are not satisfied at the end of today's race, as our drivers ended up outside the points zone after the positive eighth place achieved by Roman Staněk in the Sprint Race yesterday. After a decent start, our drivers slipped out of the top ten. Staněk reported grip problems with the rear, which became unstable, while Verschoor had clutch problems but still managed to finish in P13. After three races in consecutive weekends, a break is welcomed to recharge our energy and line up for the next two races before the August break with power and determination."
