The Sprint Race did not offer great highlights for both the team's cars

The FIA Formula 2 Championship started its tenth round of the season on the legendary Spa-Francorchamps track, which saw the F2 drivers running the Sprint Race today in dry track conditions.

The qualifying session, held on the wet, did not provide too much satisfaction to the Trident Motorsport driver, with Roman Staněk only 18th and Clément Novalak 17th. Both of them were penalized by the rain that came down hard when they had not yet completed a hard push lap.

When the lights went out, Staněk gained two spots, moving up to P5. Unfortunately, Novalak had to re-enter the pit lane immediately following a contact that broke his front wing, so he plummeted to 21st.

The Sprint Race did not offer great highlights for both the team's cars, which completed the 17 laps on the program with Staněk in P16 and Novalak in P18 after re-entering the pit lane one more time. The Feature Race, which will conclude the FIA Formula 2 Championship weekend, will go underway tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager, Sprint Race quote

"Today's Sprint Race offered few highlights for our drivers, who started too far back on the grid to have any real chance of gaining the points zone. The decision not to get on track right away in the very early stages of the qualifying session, before the rain increased in intensity, negatively affected the results. As drivers did not go beyond the ninth row on the grid, it jeopardized any chance of a placing in the top ten. While Novalak damaged his wing at the beginning of the race, Staněk had a very similar pace to the cars ahead of him and was unable to make up positions in the small trains that got created. Strategies could help us make up positions in tomorrow's Feature Race."
